“As a current freshman, I joined Stanford hoping to join a community of individuals who wanted to build traditions and positive legacies at Stanford. But in the last 6 weeks, all I have seen is the Stanford administration take one item at a time from the students. This no longer feels like a college campus. This feels like prison.”

“I was the Tree several years ago. As a community, jointly with Band, the alumni Trees and current student Trees worked hard to increase diversity and representation by revamping our audition process of our own accord. As a result, we selected a record number of BIPOC, women, and low-income Trees. However, instead of receiving positive recognition for our work from admin, control over our fun and unique audition process was nearly completely removed from our hands.”

“I miss the themed houses. And the sense of camaraderie on campus with them.“

”As a proud Stanford alum whose daughter is a current student, I can attest to the fact she is having a very different and less joyous Stanford experience. Dorms no longer host parties and the RA's plan no activities. Student suicides are sadly far more common today than 30 years ago - in part because students do not feel as connected to Stanford as we did. My daughter's dorm has not held a single activity all year and her HAs make no effort to organize events. The result is that while my dorms were centers for student connection and community, she knows almost no-one who lives in her dorm. As a former member of the LSJUMB (yes I was in the Play), the band brought joy and reduced stress wherever it played. Today the band is so worried about conforming to the administration's whims, that it has lost all of the rebellious enthusiasm that made it so popular. I urge the administration to take an entirely new approach to student life, alcohol on campus, the band, and the all important social connection that students need to thrive.”

Before recently I used to think Stanford liked fun. But I’m glad that you guys have exposed the truth about their fun hating ways! Keep up the good work!

It is clear that the new mission and priority at Stanford = Protect the Brand™
Everything that stands in the way of that mission is to be crushed.
